This Weeks Sailing – Commodore’s Regatta – Postponed

Weather reports showing uncertain wind conditions together with a general lack of confirmed participants would suggest that this event is postponed.  The event will now be run on Saturday 6 October with a start time of 12 noon and the seasons wash up meeting at 2pm.
================================================================
Just a reminder that this Saturday is the last organised outing of the season – the Commodore’s Closing Regatta/Parade of Sail.

The rules are as for the White Sail Series with a start time of 15:00. Race will be about an hour long.
There will be briefing at 14:00hrs and a season’s de briefing after the race around 16:30hrs
Weather dependant there will be a BBQ, so bring your own food and drink.
This event is really suitable for all who like to play on the water so please come along, join in and give our outgoing Commodore a fantastic send off.
If anyone cannot make the sailing, please come along at 16:30hrs for a season’s de brief, so we can hear comments to organise what we do next year..
Hope to see as many as possible on Saturday.

Lastly thanks to Martin and Eddie for performing the Race Officer duties.

Bell Rock Race Results

Five yachts took part in the overnight race from Granton to the Tay.  As the day approached there was much debate about the conditions and potential course alterations.  In the end it was felt prudent not to venture out to the Bell Rock and effectively go straight to the finish at the mouth of the Tay.  Most yachts had an exhilarating sail overnight to join Lady Nadonna who cruised up the previous day.  Many a good tale was told over beer for the next two nights at the Royal Tay’s Ale Festival before a rather wet sail home on the Sunday.
1. Misty Blue
2. Joint Venture (FCC)
3. Eclipse
4. SmiJ
5. Kashangi II
Our thanks go to Frank for organising and the Royal Tay for their exceptional hospitality.

Congratulations again John and it was great to see Tyche make an appearance although retiring after she had furler problems.

Surry Cup Results

The nasty weather forecast probably hit entry numbers for this years Surry Cup which is unfortunate as the conditions were good and got better as the afternoon went on.  Results as follows:

  3. SmiJ

Wilson Cup Results

The second event in the Joint Passage Race series organised in conjunction with the Royal Forth was the Wilson Cup held in gorgeous sunshine on 7 July.  10 boats ‘braved’ the unusual elements of soaring temperatures, sunshine and little wind for a pleasant, exciting, frustrating (delete as appropriate) 5 hour race where the latter half of the fleet finished within a minute of each other.

Overall results were as follows with the Forth Corinthian boats in bold denoting the finishing order of the Wilson Cup race within the race:

  1. Kestra
  2. Hannah
  3. Misty Blue (1st)
  4. Wizz Too
  5. Brave (2nd)
  6. Meteor
  7. Eclipse (3rd)
  8. SmiJ (4th)

(Apparition and Kashangi II retired)
