Edinburgh Marina

The Edinburgh Marina (Ltd)

The company, jointly owned by the Forth Corinthian Yacht Club and the Royal Forth Yacht Club, was set up to administer the pontoon berthing facility within the East Harbour at Granton. Each club owns 50% of the issued shares in the company.

From inception the company has been collecting berthing fees on behalf of the two clubs and is currently styled as a non-trading entity. There are five directors, two from each club. The fifth director, the chairman, is appointed by mutual agreement. Four managers, two from each club, undertake the daily running of the pontoons on a voluntary basis. Users are requested to co-operate with the duty manager to ensure the smooth running of the facility.

The marina became operational for the first time in 1996, providing pontoon berthing and service facilities in order to augment and maintain Granton as a viable sailing base at all states of the tide and to protect both FCYC and RFYC interests in any future developments within Granton Harbour. Its long term objectives include provision of full marina facilities at an affordable price and to help sustain both clubs in the future.
