Members who attended the AGM will have heard the sad news of the passing of our last Honorary member, Ronald King Murray, latterly Lord Advocate. An obituary of his life from the Telegraph is here (opens in new window) (though the Telegraph have us as the ‘Royal’ Corinthian yacht club. I think not).
Robin Fowler recalled for the meeting how Lord King had come to our aid in some of our darkest days in the early 70s (an existential crisis as we now call it).
We hope to have a fuller appreciation of Ronald King Murray in the upcoming edition of Fairwind.
Destination Cramond – H.W. 1634hrs (B.S.T.)
For the fifth and final in our series of ‘Cruise in Company’ events the proposal, back by popular demand, is to head to Cramond Boat Club. The tides are perfect (range 5.8m) and wind forecast is south-westerly’s (8 – 10 kts). Once in front of the Clubhouse berthing will require us to raft against the wall.
Meet at Granton on the pontoon at 1.00pm
Cramond B.C. have kindly offered us the use of their gas BBQ located on their sun-deck so bring some sausages/burgers for your lunch
Enjoyable motor/sail-in-company back to Granton aiming to leave Cramond about 4.30pm. If tides are still high some skippers might like to sail through the teeth!
Everyone encouraged to join in the cruise including families, children, dogs and dinghies!
